The only time Cat's daughter Monique had been to San Francisco, in 1984, she had scraped her leg on some sand on this slide. ![]() A sudden ubiquity of blood. But Monique survived, and with her parents, moved to Vancouver in 1988. Exactly 5 years before this date (May 30, 2003) Monique and her friend Kim were slaughtered at the Canadian border crossing (www.moniqueishikawa.com). This was the only place in San Francisco that held memories of Monique for Cat, no matter how unpleasant. He was surprised how vividly he could recall it after 19 years.
