However, they stayed at the hotel Quinta das Lagrimas (www.supernet.pt/hotelagrimas), an even more interesting place than their Lisbon hotel which they had assumed could not be beat. The Coimbra hotel was the site of a tragic love story of King Pedro I and Ines de Castro in the 14th century. Later, it was Wellington's headquarters in his struggle against Napoleon, in the 20th century, the centre of a literary movement.
